One day we decided to go Brisbane City for a visit. We were all excited as we boarded the train. We had heard so many things about South bank and Queen Street Mall. We arrived in Central and made our way through the city and over the Victoria Bridge to South bank.
It was getting close to lunchtime, so we decided to eat at one of the eateries (餐馆). Just as we had all finished, our little girl Mini fell sideways off her chair onto the ground. We all jumped to help Mini get up, but as York lifted her, we noticed drops of blood on the ground. Her forehead was bleeding quite badly.
All the children went white with shock(震惊). Grampy went to find help as York held Mini and I put a hand against the wound. Help arrived and we were guided to the first aid room. James was crying. After a while we were advised to go to the nearest hospital for stitches(缝合). Our big Brisbane adventure was over, for Mini needed medical attention.
At the hospital we were all on edge. Grampy and I decided to take all the other children home first and leave Blossom,York and Mini at the hospital. Somewhat disappointed and sad, we sat quietly on the train. Everyone’s thoughts were on little Mini in the hospital.

How do you get a man to do his share of the house work? If you like most of the women, you will face the question the hard way.
A man will enjoy a clean, orderly house, but he usually won’t make the effort to clean or organize it. This doesn’t mean that a woman has to do all the housework; she may have to manage many of household duties, and request his partner’s participation. A woman can often say that men and women should take equal responsibility for housework.
Very few men are raised to be fully responsible for housework, and many men look on housework as women’s work. On the other hand, most men will readily work around the yard. Make repairs and complete projects on weekends or evenings, and it’s important that you give your man appreciation for those things too. Most man will take a little additional housework around the house if asked politely. They are even more likely to do housework if they choose what they want to do, and do it without being monitored.
Here is the key; men want to fell that they are doing housework either because they want to please their women. Men are much less likely to take on household tasks they consider uninteresting and unimportant. In other words, men are likely to do a household talk just for good of the house.

Most Chinese people these days know what it is like to have an “English teacher”, since almost all pupils study English from their third year. Usually that first English teacher will be a young and lovely lady in primary school. But my first English teacher is no other than my father. Looking back, I can see that, when I was only a little girl, he created an English environment by providing me with flashcards(识字卡),fun English- language toys and even dolls which can sing English songs! My interest in English had certainly been awakened(唤起) when I began to learn English at school. Just imagine, he went a step further and asked me to learn New Concept English by myself! I was confused and even angry. I could not understand why a father could be so strict with his little girl. All the same, he never gave up and he gently insisted that I follow through with his idea. At first, I read stories with tears and I actually hated them because they were too difficult for me. In the end, I came to love the funny stories and, to be honest, my father was always there with a helping hand. I am sure that my English would never have got so far without his support. And that’s why my father is not only my first English teacher but also my lifelong teacher. He is the one who awoke my interest, who gave me confidence and who offered me much needed help.
